ACM-W at Grace Hopper Celebration!
Two faculty and four students attended the GHC this year. GHC was the highest tweet of the week!
Save the date! It’s never too early to start planning for the Grace Hopper Celebration. GHC 2014 sold out in record time, even with an increase in capacity to accommodate over 8,000 attendees. Mark your calendars for 2015 now. The 2015 Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing will be held October 14 – 16 in Houston, Texas.
Started in 1994, GHC is now the world’s largest gathering of women technologists. In 2013, GHC hosted over 4,750 attendees from 53 countries including 1,900 students from over 400 academic institutions and 2,850 professionals from industry, government and academia. The conference features keynotes by prominent women in technology, career workshops, and technical tracks from leading researchers and the best of ACM SIGSOFT & SIGGRAPH. Meet the women who are transforming technology at the Grace Hopper Celebration.

WINTER 2014
The School of Engineering and Computer Science was a Silver Academic Sponsor at the GraceHopper Conference, held last month in Minneapolis, MN. Representatives from the Computer Science and Engineering department were on hand to recruit potential students and promote Oakland University to 4,500 attendees. Assistant Professor Dr. Wenjin Zhou (ACM-W faculty advisor), Visiting Assistant Professor Dr. Xiaotong Lin, and doctoral students Allison Rossetto (ACM-W president) and Astrid Muriel Waindja Younang attended the conference. Dr. Zhou described the conference as a great venue to "inspire young women undergraduate (and) graduate students to work in Computer Science, recruit graduate students (and) recruit new faculty." Pictured above, from left to right, is doctoral student Allison Rossetto, doctoral student Astrid Muriel Waindja, Assistant Professor Dr. Wenjin Zhou and Visiting Assistant Professor Dr. Xiaotong Lin.
